GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER (BAND LEVEL 3)

Memorial University of Newfoundland Botanical Garden

(Contractual Position to December 24, 2025)

The University will consider applications from qualified permanent staff who may be interested in a temporary assignment, subject to departmental approval

 

DUTIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing maintenance work in an environmentally sensitive fashion to the physical plant of the Memorial University Botanical Garden. Duties include the repair and resurfacing of trails and boardwalks; construction and installation of displays for the Merry and Bright Light Festival; and performing other related duties as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (up to 3 years) in carpentry work and basic grounds and maintenance work; graduation from high school is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The successful applicant must be able to operate small machinery such as chainsaws and power tools. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is required. Experience in seasonal light display installation will be an asset.

 

 

SALARY                           $47,057 - $55,196 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
