A message from the Dean of Education, Dr. Pamela Osmond-Johnson

This year Education Week runs from February 9th to 13th. The theme of Learn! Teach! Inspire! encapsulates the core of what we do at the Faculty of Education. From student teachers beginning their learning journey, to researchers advancing educational approaches and techniques, to mentors who support pre-service teachers during practicum, we celebrate you this week for being a continuous source of inspiration, enthusiasm, and support for the teaching profession.

Of course, the Faculty of Education is not alone in the educational landscape. This Education Week we would like to extend our gratitude and best wishes to our partners including The Department of Education, NLSchools, the Conseil Scolaire Franchophone Provincial (CSFP), the Newfoundland and Labrador Teacher’s Association (NLTA), as well as numerous community organizations who are all working towards sustainable and innovative futures within education in Newfoundland and Labrador. We value and appreciate your ongoing partnership as an integral component of teacher development in the province.

Education Week also coincides with Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, so we would be remiss in not recognizing the incredible work being done every day in classrooms across the province. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all teachers, staff, and administrators for all you do to foster positive learning environments that support student success across the diversity of learning needs that comprise classrooms in Newfoundland and Labrador.
