Program Information
The Bachelor of Special Education Degree program is designed to prepare teachers of Grades Kindergarten -12 who specialize in accommodating learner diversity and exceptionalities. The program is intended for candidates who have already completed an appropriate bachelor’s degree.

Required Supporting Documents
The following documents are required as part of the application process (submission instructions are provided to the applicant during the I Want to Apply application process):
- References. To be completed individuals who can verify your suitability to work with exceptional children.
- Two (2) required
NOTE: Referees' names and email addresses will be requested and collected electronically by the Office of the Registrar during the online application process. Referees will be contacted by the Office of the Registrar shortly after submission of your online application for admission.
- Teaching Experience Form. Completion and submission of ONE of the following:
- Bachelor of Special Education Teaching Experience Form; or,
- Letter from your School District confirming your total number of teaching days.
NOTE: The above form or letter is to be submitted directly to the Office of the Registrar.
- Official Transcripts. Official transcripts from institutions other than Memorial University are to be submitted at the time of application, indicating courses in progress and courses completed. Official transcripts are to be sent directly from the awarding Institution to The Office of the Registrar, Memorial University. Your official transcript(s) indicating the award of your Bachelor’s Degree(s) and/or Winter Semester grades must be received by the Office of the Registrar no later than June 15th.
Application Assessment
In assessing applications, consideration will be given to students’ overall academic performance, personal statement submissions and recommendations from references.
NOTE: Consideration will be given to the courses for which students are registered at the time of application. Applicants who will have completed all requirements for admission by the end of the spring semester of the year that admission is being sought will be considered as time and resources permit.
