Nominations are currently being accepted for the 2026 Legacy of Leadership Awards. The nomination deadline is August 31, 2026 at 4:00pm. Completed nomination packages are to be submitted to the Dean's Office via email to educdean@mun.ca.

About the Awards
The Faculty of Education established the “Legacy of Leadership Awards” in 2022 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Teacher Education in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The annual awards recognize individuals who have led significant and sustained initiatives to improve the educational system in NL.
Awards recognize individual contributions in two categories:
- K-12 School System
- Post-Secondary / Higher Education
The Awards Committee
Nominations will be adjudicated by the Legacy of Leadership Awards Committee. The committee is governed by the Terms of Reference.

Award Recipients
Nominators and recipients of the Legacy of Leadership Award will be notified of the committee’s decision within two months of the nomination deadline. Recipients will be presented with an award statuette at the Faculty of Education Awards Night, which takes place in the Fall of each year.
