1. Participate in MUN 101 and university readiness
Begin your university journey strong with MUN 101, Memorial’s early orientation and transition program. Designed to help you feel prepared and connected, MUN 101 gives you the knowledge, tools and support you need for university success. You’ll automatically have access to MUN 101 through Brightspace after you register for your first course.
We’re also offering on‑demand university-readiness recordings with practical tips on managing your workload, finances, health and wellbeing, or understanding how university works. Stay tuned for more details!
2. Seek out additional supports and services
Memorial is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible campus where students from all backgrounds can thrive.
We offer dedicated support through inclusive spaces, specialized services, and personalized guidance — explore some of the options below to find what's right for you.
3. Request your campus card
Your campus card is your Memorial ID! You'll need it to:
- write exams,
- access your residence hall/room and meal plan if you're living on campus,
- use library services, including photocopying and printing,
- access The Works (Field House and other recreation facilities).
Ready? Request your campus card online — you'll receive pickup instructions to your Memorial student email on how to pick it up when you arrive on campus or start your program.
4. Pay your fees
Tuition and other student fees are calculated when you register for courses. Once you're registered, you can view your upcoming student account balance in the Payment Centre under Student Self-Service. Need help? The Cashier’s Office is there for you.
Tuition is due on the first day of classes of each semester you are enrolled, and there are several payment options, including online banking and wire transfers.
Memorial offers emergency financial support to students facing unforeseen financial circumstances. We hope you never need it, but the support is available if unexpected circumstances arise.
Access your RESP
If you have a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), you may need to request a confirmation of enrolment letter from Memorial to access your funds.
Review health insurance information and coverage
All full-time undergraduate students are required to purchase health insurance as a condition of registration. Health insurance fees are added to your account automatically at the time of registration.
5. Get familiar with campus

Before the semester begins, we recommend getting a lay of campus so you know where you're going on day one. Here are some of the best ways to prepare:
- Book a campus tour: Schedule a personalized campus tour with a student tour guide to find the specific classrooms in your schedule.
- Bookmark the campus map: Keep the digital campus map handy on your phone.
- Locate essential buildings: Even if you don't know all your classrooms yet, make sure you know how to find the University Centre (food court, bookstore, student services), the Queen Elizabeth II Library (studying and IT support) and Arts and Administration (Cashier's Office and Registrar's Office).
If you're living off campus, you should start planning your route to campus. You can cycle, walk, drive or use the city's public transit options: Metrobus or GoBus Accessible Transit. If you plan on driving, be aware there is limited pay-per-use parking available on and around campus, but spots tend to fill up early in the morning.

6. Create a support network
Explore events, services, and resources from Student Life, the Internationalization Office, and the Indigenous Student Resource Centre.
To help you seamlessly transition into university life, we highly recommend that you:
- Attend Welcome Week activities.
- Continue engaging in MUN 101 programming.
- Explore over 140 clubs, societies, and groups for undergraduate students.
- Take advantage of free leadership and development programs.
Getting involved is the easiest way to build connections, make new friends and learn new skills that will help you in your school and work life.
The Registrar's Office and Student Life are committed to ensuring you have the best possible experience at Memorial. Reach out and use our support units and resources as often and as early as you need.
7. Review wellness, medical, and academic support resources
Prioritizing your wellness is critical to your success as a student and one of the most important habits you can develop during university. The better your mental and physical health, the easier it will be for you to achieve your goals and be successful. Simple self-care practices like taking breaks, practicing mindfulness, eating healthy, exercising and sleeping well can make a massive difference.
Memorial’s Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC) offers registered students a broad range of counselling, health, and wellness supports, including:
- Appointments with a physician, nurse or counsellor
- Free 24/7 mental wellness support for students through the GuardMe Student Support Program
- Wellness programming, like the weekly student Oasis
- Guides to improve your study and time management skills
- Online resources to overcome procrastination, plan your week and semester, take notes, and understand a course syllabus
- Wellness videos to strengthen your study habits, manage stress, and build healthy routines
8. Browse the bookstore and request a locker
The Memorial University Bookstore is your source for required textbooks, course materials, school supplies, Memorial-branded merchandise, and other academic and campus essentials. Use their online textbook and course materials search tool so you can budget and plan for your upcoming semester. However, we highly recommend waiting to purchase textbooks and other course materials until you receive the class syllabus from your instructor.
Need a place to drop off your textbooks, gym bag, or winter gear between classes? Renting a locker is an easy, affordable way to lighten your load and keep your belongings secure throughout the day. Lockers are available in the main underground locker tunnel and the Arts and Administration–Science skywalk, making it convenient to grab what you need between classes.
9. Get connected and download free software
Enjoy free Wi-Fi the moment you arrive on campus (make sure you have your MUN ID to connect). Support is available at the Computing Support Desk in the QEII Library if you need help getting connected or setting up your devices.
While you're in the library, take a look around at the different study space options, check out the Jumping Bean coffee shop, and learn about the services and resources offered by the library and The Commons.
Don't forget to download the free apps and software, including Microsoft Office, to set yourself up for success from day one.
10. Let us know you're attending
Don't forget to register for courses via Student Self-Service. Your course registration is what lets us know you’re attending Memorial and helps secure your place for the upcoming semester.
If your plans have changed and you are no longer able to attend Memorial, please drop any registered courses before the first day of lectures. Or, you can request an application deferral for a later semester.
Final review
Before the beginning of your first semester, we'll verify your acceptance to ensure we received all the required documents for your application.
To keep your admission and course registration secure, arrange for your official documents to arrive by the document deadline. If you anticipate any delay in submitting your documents, email admissions@mun.ca as soon as possible so we can help you get things sorted. Missing documents may affect your admission status and course registration.
You're all set!
We can't wait to welcome you to campus! You've done everything you need to start your Memorial journey strong. But don't worry, there's still plenty to discover, learn and experience as your first semester unfolds.
If you have any questions at any time along the way, email us at registrar@mun.ca, and someone will get back to you promptly.
And remember, you’re not doing this alone. You’ve got a whole team at Memorial supporting and championing you every step of the way.
