Application Process  

A maximum of 25 students will be admitted each year, and entry into the program is done on a competitive basis. Applications from all who meet the program criteria are encouraged to apply.  

The Limitless Leadership application is comprehensive and includes multiple sections designed to help us understand your leadership experience, philosophy, and aspirations. Please take time to review the entire application before starting and ensure you have the following prepared: 

  • Responses to several reflective questions about your leadership activities and experiences 
  • A video essay response 
  • A Letter of Reference from a Memorial University Faculty/Staff/Community Member  
  • Current resume 
  • Unofficial transcript 

We recommend setting aside enough time to complete the required items prior to sitting down to apply. Please provide thoughtful, detailed responses and include specific examples wherever possible. 

Leadership Reflection Questions 
(500 words max per question)  

Describe your leadership activities. 
Share your leadership experiences, past and present, and any plans you have for the future. Highlight the roles you've taken on and the impact you've made.   

What is your leadership philosophy?  
What principles or values guide your approach to leadership?    

What unique leadership skills/experiences/perspectives do you bring to the program? 
Tell us what sets you apart and how your background will enrich the Limitless Leadership community. 

Share one initiative you led or were part of that created meaningful change. 
Explain the problem, your approach, and the result. 

Tell us about a time you stepped outside your comfort zone to take on a leadership role. 
What was the situation, and what did you learn from the experience? 

Tell us something about yourself that has not been included in your previous responses 
Share a hobby, interest, or unique experience that helps us to get to know you better.   

Video Essay 

Using a smart phone, applicants are asked to create a video answering the question below that is no longer than 120 seconds long. Videos should be uploaded to a preferred video service (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo) and provide the link in the appropriate 

Where do you see yourself as leader in 5 years and how will participating in Limitless Leadership impact your leadership journey and career aspirations? 

Some helpful hints for a successful video: 

  • Start the video by stating your name  
  • Have a box, stand, tripod etc. to prop up the phone or laptop so the camera is roughly eye level 
  • Find a brightly lit room with a nice backdrop (blank walls work if nothing else) 
  • Find a quiet place away from roommates or other activities 
  • Rehearse - record - edit, if necessary
