Memorial Student Leader Program – Applications Open!
Are you looking for a leadership opportunity that allows you to develop professional skills, connect with the campus community, and make a meaningful impact? Apply to be a Memorial Student Leader!
The Memorial Student Leader Program is a year-long experience where students take on key leadership roles, contribute to major university events, and develop valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and event planning.
Program Highlights:
- Welcome Lead (WL): Plan and execute a key event during either Fall Welcome or Winter Welcome while working closely with Student Experience Office staff.
- Ambassador Component: Represent Memorial University at one institutional event, engaging with students, staff, and guests.
- Professional Development: Participate in training sessions and leadership activities to enhance your skills.
Program Requirements:
- Attend 75% of meetings and actively contribute to your assigned Welcome event.
- Represent Memorial University at one event.
- Complete mandatory training in April.
- Engage in leadership development and complete a reflection activity.

Welcome Week wouldn’t be the same without the energy and enthusiasm of our amazing student volunteers! This is your chance to be part of one of the biggest events of the year—helping new students feel at home, making connections, and creating unforgettable moments.
As a General Volunteer, you'll play a key role in making Welcome Week a success. Whether you’re helping with setup, guiding students to events, or bringing the fun to activities, your support makes a huge impact!
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with event setup and takedown
- Help keep the energy up by engaging with new students
- Support traffic flow and keep events running smoothly
- Collect feedback and share insights to improve future events
- Be part of an amazing team that makes Welcome unforgettable!
All General Volunteers will receive training in August to get prepped and ready.

Make Midterm Matter
Since 2006, #MakeMidtermMatter has connected thousands of students to their community and each other, working with community groups on and off campus. If you are a bit shy to meet people, or not sure how to volunteer, or if you want to have a different, or put your academic knowledge into deeper practice, this is a good activity for you.
