Expressions of Interest: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Leader

Dr. Alejandro Adem, president of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is re-establishing the NSERC Leaders network which brings together stakeholders from universities across the country.

The goal of the network will be to shape policies, plans and activities on the future of science and engineering in Canada through collaboration.

It is also planned to have the established NSERC Leaders Network collaborate with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), which also has an existing network of Leaders, representing the interests of a variety of institutions across Canada.

As part of this effort, the annual SSHRC Leaders meeting in December will now be co-hosted by NSERC and SSHRC over two days: one day split between NSERC and SSHRC, with the second day focusing on a joint meeting covering multiple agency initiatives.

NSERC Leaders must hold appropriate knowledge and authority to represent their institution on matters related to the natural sciences and engineering. NSERC will communicate informally with this network throughout the year and engage in person during the December meeting.

Vice-President (Research) Dr. Neil Bose is seeking expressions of interest to be Memorial’s NSERC Leader. Submissions are welcomed from all career levels and all underrepresented groups.

Please indicate your interest by emailing vp.research@mun.ca, including your c.v., by Monday, March 16.

The nomination will be communicated to NSERC by the President by the deadline of March 31.
