Research Spotlight - Opening doors to data: Canadian Research Data Centre Network cross-country tour

Members of the university community are invited to a free research data workshop taking place on Thursday, June 19, from 9 a.m.-noon., in room 2028, computer classroom, in the Queen Elizabeth II Library, St. John’s campus.

Entitled Opening doors to data, the workshop is part of a cross-country tour organized by the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN).

The workshop will include a half day of free programming, including a collaborative 60-minute session led by Johanne Provencal, director of research, training and knowledge mobilization, CRDCN, connecting CRDCN researchers with provincial policy leaders to explore solutions to shared priorities.

Additionally, Grant Gibson, assistant director, research and evaluation, CRDCN, will lead a 90-minute training session on restricted data discoverability for restricted data research projects. This session will use real-world examples to illustrate how to make restricted data Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR).

Dr. Rick Audas, acting director of Memorial’s Research Data Centre (RDC), which houses in-depth Statistics Canada data; and Alison Farrell, acting head and research data management librarian, Health Sciences Library, will be available to answer Memorial specific questions.
