Research Involving Animals

All research at Memorial involving vertebrate animals is overseen by Animal Care and Veterinary Resources (ACVR) and the institution's Animal Care Committee.  Standards are set and maintained by the Canadian Council on Animal Care, Canada's regulatory oversight body for all animal care and use in research, teaching and testing.

Investigators require Animal Care Committee clearance for the duration of all animal studies. The process requires that all investigators apply the 3R's concepts of Replacement, Refinement and Reduction in considering the animal models to be used.
