February is fruitful for School of Pharmacy research awards

A number of faculty members in the School of Pharmacy have recently been awarded prestigious recognitions for their research and accomplishments.

Lisa Bishop was made a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Healthcare Professionals (CSHP). The Fellow of the CSHP status is a peer recognition that acknowledges exemplary achievements and outstanding contributions to CSHP and to the profession of pharmacy, and who have demonstrated noteworthy service and practice excellence.

Dr. Bishop was inducted for her leadership and commitment to the profession through her community-based research in mental health issues and obesity in youth.

She also received the Isabel E. Stauffer Meritorious Service Award, sponsored by Pharmaceutical Partners of Canada. The award recognizes prolonged service to and involvement in the Society, primarily at the Branch of Chapter level.  Isabel E. Stauffer was one of CSHP’s first members, and quickly became a strong supporter for and ambassador for the organization. She was instrumental in initiating the Society’s acclaimed conference program.

Dr. Jason Kielly was awarded a 2013 Research Grant from the CSHP Research and Education Foundation, and a number of alumni from the School of Pharmacy were also recognized with national awards from CSHP.

Lindsay Creamer (09) was awarded the New Hospital Pharmacy Practitioner Award, sponsored by Sandoz Canada Incorporated, which recognizes new hospital pharmacy practitioners for their activities in patient care, education and/or research, as well as their service to the profession and to the Society. Recipients display eagerness, dedication, and a positive attitude towards academic learning, the profession of pharmacy in general, and the practice of hospital pharmacy in particular.

Ms. Creamer also received the Patient Care Enhancement Award, sponsored by Pfizer Canada Incorporated.
