Constructing Change

Our 2017-18 Annual Report, Constructing Change, is a continuation of the theme of last year's report, Foundation for the Future. On our minds in the school continues to be the changing pharmacy landscape, which has been shifting from a dispensing focus towards a more patient-centred model, with a more active role in healthcare innovation and outcomes-based research.

In a relatively short timespan, our profession has been expanding from a one-story strip mall, to a high rise. As we graduate the pharmacists of tomorrow, we have to offer them an education that matches the rapidly changing profession.

Foundation for the Future was our blueprint for our future dream home. In Constructing Change, we have started to build. Our strong ties with the pharmacy community, stakeholders, dedicated faculty, staff, students and alumni have all contributed to our current structure, and it is these same ties that will help us continue to evolve.

Two major focuses of our report and school are our two new programs - the entry-to-practice Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, and the PharmD for Working Professionals, which began this fall.

As well, the Medication Therapy Services (MTS) Clinic, which has seen over 250 patients through a mixture of self-referral and healthcare provider referrals, and has become a valuable resource for hands-on learning opportunities for our students, who are involved in various research projects, the Smoking Cessation Program, as well as their clinical rotations, all the while developing skills that they will carry with them wherever they find themselves in their careers.

We always welcome feedback on our annual reports. Please contact us via email, Facebook or Twitter.
