Marine Institute

Full-time contractual position to April 2027

 

The Marine Institute of Memorial University is a technically oriented education, training and applied research institution offering an array of programs including short courses, certificate, diploma, and degree programs. At the graduate level, the program offerings include post-graduate certificates, advanced diploma programs, graduate diploma programs, master’s degrees, and PhD programs. The Office of Student Recruitment within the Office of the Registrar works collaboratively with various areas of the Marine Institute to develop and implement the Institute’s recruitment strategy. The office is looking for an energetic team player to join the team. 

 

DUTIES 

The successful applicant will work to implement the Marine Institute’s student recruitment strategy, aimed at enrolling students into the Institute’s suite of programs.  Duties include developing and presenting information about the Marine Institute to local, national, and international audiences, including high schools, career days, community centers, education fairs, campus tours and post-secondary institutions; identifying strategies for recruitment initiatives and assisting in their implementation; compiling information and assisting in the implementation of the recruitment plan; working closely with the departments within Academic & Student Affairs; building relationships with prospective students by answering enquiries on career options, programs, student services, campus life, instruction, industry expectations, admission policies and other issues with the goal of converting an enquiry into an application; and performing other related duties as required.  This position requires considerable travel and public appearances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in a student recruitment environment; graduation from a four-year college or university; an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered.  Excellent customer services orientation, strong oral and written communication skills, and familiarity with post-secondary issues and trends are required.   Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s licence as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador is also required.  Knowledge of the post- secondary education experience at the Marine Institute and a high degree of knowledge regarding the Marine Institute’s programs are assets.    

 

SALARY                       $60,497 - $70,969 (NAPE Local 7850)
