This exciting position, housed at the Centre for Social Enterprise (CSE) at Memorial University, coordinates strategic initiatives and special projects designed to drive social innovation in the provincial social enterprise ecosystem.
DUTIES
Reporting to the Manager, Centre for Social Enterprise (CSE), the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator will collaborate with Memorial stakeholders and external partners to coordinate the development, implementation, and management of initiatives that advance social innovation and social enterprise in Newfoundland and Labrador. This includes managing the Fairlead Social Impact Fund and leading impact measurement for the Centre, as well as current or future projects on topics of impact measurement, including evaluation and data analytics; social finance and impact investing; social innovation; social procurement; and sustainability. The incumbent will also lead the Centre’s community-facing programming, and liaise with capacity-building partners to build and deliver this programming.
The successful applicant will be responsible for project management from planning to implementation and evaluation. Duties include writing funding proposals; organizing project timelines to ensure deadlines are met; overseeing tasks assigned to others to ensure projects are moving forward; setting up and organizing meetings pertaining to projects; applying expertise and thinking creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine; identifying, fostering, and securing partnerships and opportunities for collaboration with local and national entities to support the development of strategic initiatives that contribute to a thriving social innovation ecosystem; leading impact measurement of the work of the Centre; and identifying potential opportunities to support the development of the provincial social enterprise sector in areas including (but not limited to) social finance, impact investing, social procurement, sustainability, and impact measurement and evaluation; supporting the planning and execution of CSE events; and performing other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Centre for Social Enterprise (CSE). Some travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (minimum 5 years) in business development and leading business research (preferably in the social enterprise sector) and program coordination and delivery; completion of an undergraduate degree in a related field is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Experience in the social enterprise sector, social finance, social impact investment, or community economic development is essential. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills; community engagement experience; the ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment; a demonstrated ability to manage projects and adhere to deadlines; the capacity to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders; and the ability to succeed in an evolving and multi-tasking environment.
SALARY $64,361 - $87,763 per annum (Management and Professional)
