PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE LEAD, COUNSELLING SERVICES (BAND LEVEL 12)

Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC)

(Permanent Position)

 

 

DUTIES 

The Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC) helps students to thrive at Memorial University by providing a range of resources to meet the health and well-being needs of currently registered students. A full-service health clinic, counselling services, and a wellness program are the primary focus. 

 

Reporting to the Director of the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre, the Professional Practice Lead will play a key role leadership role by coaching, mentoring, providing direction, and ensuring the quality of counselling services, along with providing direct mental health supports, including initial intake, screening, and triage under established clinical protocols. Duties include using innovative ideas and concepts to provide leadership in effecting change and improving the quality of service; facilitating the mental health care of students; liaising with a wide array of administrative and clinical team members throughout the University; contributing to the development and implementation of mental health strategies for complex cases by promoting and ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment within the service area based on practice standards; and performing other related duties as required. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in Psychology (a minimum of 5 years); completion of a doctoral degree or a master's degree in Psychology is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. The successful applicant must be a Registered Psychologist with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of professional trends, issues, scope and standards of practice, and other relevant legislation; experience in change management; strong skills in identifying professional practice issues and collaboratively solving problems; excellent oral and written communication skills; and be comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite and electronic client record systems. Previous leadership experience is considered an asset.

 

 

SALARY                   $82,417 - $105,534 per annum (Management and Professional)
