ESL Recommendations Policy
ESL can provide a recommendation so that you can start your undergraduate or graduate program at Memorial without needing to submit a standardized test score or other proofs of English Language Proficiency.
There are two ways to get an ESL recommendation to start your undergraduate or graduate program:
- Intensive Bridge Program (IBP): students who get at least one A and no grade lower than 70 in their ESL courses and maintain good performance in the credit course (normally get at least a 50) will receive a recommendation for entry to Memorial.
- Level 6, Intensive English Program (IEP): students who get all As will receive a recommendation for entry to Memorial.
After grades are released, ESL will email recommendations to Memorial’s admission offices (undergraduate and graduate studies). Recommendations are based on English language readiness for admission to Memorial. Please note: each department/faculty reserves the right to accept or deny a student based on that department’s particular rules and regulations for admission.
