Microsoft 365 Service Degradation Affecting Multiple Services
Memorial University is aware of a Microsoft 365 service degradation that is affecting users in North America. Microsoft has confirmed an incident impacting several Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Office for the web, SharePoint, and related collaboration tools.
According to Microsoft, users may experience:
- Difficulty accessing Microsoft Teams
- Problems opening or editing Office files online
- Intermittent access issues with Outlook and other Microsoft 365 applications
- Elevated error rates when using Office for the web services
At this time, Memorial University users may encounter intermittent service disruptions when accessing Microsoft 365 resources. The impact may vary depending on the service being used and current Microsoft recovery progress. Users are encouraged to save work frequently and retry affected actions if errors occur.
OCIO (Office of the Cheif Information Officier) is monitoring Microsoft's updates and will continue to assess any impact on Memorial University services.

Network Maintenance – Part of the HSC 2nd floor Sunday 26th July 2026
The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) advises on network maintenance impacting the HSC building 1st and 2nd floors. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. there will be maintenance impacting wired wall plates beginning with “HS2.2-“ and wireless in teh area. During this time there will be prolonged network outages to wired and wireless in the areas, including VoIP telephony. Connectivity will return automatically after the work is completed. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. there will be maintenance impacting wired wall plates beginning with “HS2.4-“ and “HO5.1-“ and MUN wireless in those surrounding locations. During this time there will be prolonged network outages to wired and wireless in the areas, including VoIP telephony. Connectivity will return automatically after the work is completed. Google Workspace Notice
You may see a message in Google Workspace (shown below) about transferring your content after graduation. It says, "Graduating soon? Keep all your emails and other files after you graduate”.
This message is generated by Google and is not controlled by the university.
Clicking the “Graduating Soon” notice in Gmail will safely open a prompt designed to help you back up your files and migrate your school data. It will not delete your account. The tool simply provides options to transfer your emails, photos, and Google Drive files to a personal account.
