Guidance for GenAI Usage
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers significant opportunities to enhance administrative processes and create efficiencies in the way we work. The innovative use of generative AI can better support the mission and business operations of the university. Members of the Memorial community should consider security, privacy, risk, responsibility and ethics in the use of AI. This guidance aims to provide a framework for the responsible and ethical use of AI.
Microsoft Copilot Basic
Copilot Basic is a generative AI tool available in Memorial’s Microsoft 365 environment. When signed in to Copilot Basic with your MUN Login account, the data you submit is automatically protected by Microsoft’s enterprise data protection. This means the data stays within Memorial’s Microsoft 365 environment.
Microsoft Copilot Premium
Copilot Premium is an advanced, AI-powered productivity tool available as an add-on to Memorial’s Microsoft 365 environment. It builds on the Copilot Basic experience by securely integrating with your university data in Microsoft 365 —including emails, files, meetings, and Teams conversations—to provide contextual, work-focused assistance.
