Information for CGS-M Applicants

Memorial University has a sizable allocation of NSERC CGS-M scholarships. These scholarships are funded through the federal government and are intended to support exceptional graduate students in the studies in the natural sciences. Several students in the chemistry department are funded through this program. Under NSERC's new guidelines, the recipients of these awards are now selected by the university through an internal ranking process. Students may apply at up to 5 universities. The value of the award is $17,500. CGS-M recipients at Memorial receive receive an additional $5,000 Dean's Excellence Award.

You should complete your application on NSERC's website. You should indicate Memorial as one of your proposed host institutions. You are encouraged to contact a potential supervisor for help preparing your application and writing your research project description.
