Prospective Students
Why Social Work at Memorial?
At Memorial University’s School of Social Work, we prepare students to make a real difference in people’s lives, communities, and society. We are proud to be an accredited school, recognized by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE). This means our programs meet national standards and will prepare you to pursue professional registration as a social worker in Canada.
Our students benefit from a strong combination of academic study and experiential learning. Our programs include two 350-hour Field Practica (internships), giving students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained through coursework in professional practice settings and build valuable connections with social work professionals across Newfoundland and Labrador, and beyond.
The School of Social Work offers two undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) as a First Degree and the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) as a Second Degree.
Both are offered as full-time, on-campus programs and include two 350-hour Field Practica.
