How To Become a Field Instructor/Agency Mentor

To provide field instruction to an MSW student, social workers must have completed an MSW with 2 years post MSW social work employment experience.

Field Instructor Course for Social Workers

This course is offered by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE) and is designed specifically for social workers who are or wish to become field instructors. It is intended to provide participants with a firm foundation upon which to build and expand their unique instructional styles. In recognition of the demands on time and the many work and life commitments, the course has been made as concise and engaging as possible. Please contact scwkfield@mun.ca for details.

The forms listed below should be completed by Field Instructor and Agency Mentor (if applicable) prior to your student's practicum start date. Once completed, these forms can be uploaded to IPT or emailed to scwkfield@mun.ca.

Confirmation of Agreement form (CofA) to host an MSW Field Practicum Student. (Please complete this form once it has been confirmed you will be a field instructor for an MSW student. Select the appropriate semester form below.
