Julie Furj-Kuhn obtained a dual degree in Social Work (BSW) and Bible (BS) in 2000 from Philadelphia Biblical University. She obtained her MSW at The University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) in 2004. Most of Julie's social work experience is in the realm of mental health, homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction and HIV/AIDS. Prior to her becoming a full time faculty member, she was the Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Franklin County. She currently teaches mostly macro focused courses (Social Policy and Programs and Social Work with Communities and Organizations) in the Social Work Program at Cedarville University where she was recently named coordinator of international social work field practicum. Julie sits on the Executive Board of Safe Harbor House, a safe house for women who have been victims of human trafficking.

Research Interest:

Julie is interested in researching the experiences of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in evangelical congregations. She is curious if PLWHA find comfort in being associated with a religious affiliation or how important religious affiliation is to PLWHA.
