Carol's primary research interest for her dissertation is the short and long term impacts of excessive gaming on adolescents social and skill development. She is keenly interested in how/if excessive gaming and/or internet usage impacts adolescents as they transition into adulthood and their ability to socialize, make and maintain friendships, cope with stressors and how this impacts the development of their self-identity. Other areas of interest include trauma within human trafficking and child exploitation.

Carol started her social work journey at Cambrian College where she earned a Social Services Worker diploma. She moved on to complete her BSW at Laurentian University and her MSW at the University of Toronto.

Carol currently works for the Rainbow District School Board as a clinical social worker working with kids from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and is also the President of the Professional Support Staff unit within the school board. She also has a small private practice. Prior to the school board, Carol worked as a clinical social worker at Health Sciences North within the Sexual Assault Centre, as well as the Eating Disorders Program. She also has experience working for CAS as a child protection worker and in a residential setting working with kids and adults with developmental delays.

She is currently a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers and Ontario Association of Social Workers.
