Mapping a network drive in Windows

  1. Open “File explorer” by searching for it in the search bar on Windows or clicking the icon in your task bar.
    or
  2.  Once in File Explorer, right click on “This PC” then click “Map network drive” from the drop down list.
  3. A new window will open. From the “Drive” drop down, you can select the desired drive letter you would like for the share or you can leave it as the default. From the “Folder” drop down, type in the server name and share name. Ex: \\servername\sharename

  4. The 2 check boxes are usually fine by default
  5. Click “Finish” once everything is entered correctly and the share will open up.
