A Reopening Celebration

Keep in Touch
Kate Read, Timothy Steeves

Keep in Touch, subtitled "Three Missed Calls for Holy Week", addresses "inbetweenness", isolation and miscommunication. David Jaeger, a wonderful communicator, describes his 2018 Sonata as a "unique effort in my canon." To accompany these two NL premieres Kate and Timothy will resurrect Bach's G Major Gamba Sonata.

Cellist Vernon Regehr, Nancy Dahn, violin, and Timothy Steeves, piano celebrate the work of Maurice Ravel in this much anticipated concert. This program features three of his greatest and game-changing chamber works - the Sonata for Violin and Piano, the Duo for violin and cello, and the magnificent Trio.

Duo Concertante

Music to soothe the weary soul from a composer whose work embodies the resilience and depth of the human spirit. Duo Concertante perform the complete works for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms.


Standard Time
Florian Hoefner and the Montreal Trio

Florian Hoefner introduces his Montréal based trio featuring Adrian Vedady on bass and Jim Doxas on drums, both on faculty at McGill University. The 3 will present a program of original jazz compositions by some of the most iconic Black American jazz artists including Thelonious Monk, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, and Bud Powell. They will explore this repertoire through the lens of modern jazz, featuring the hallmark energetic playing style of one of Canada's most revered bass and drums duos.

Women of Winds Ensemble
D.F. Cook Recital Hall

Memorial faculty members Christine Carter, Michelle Cheramy, and Annie Corrigan join forces with NSO colleagues Emily Dunsmore and Nicole Hand for the first ever Music@Memorial woodwind quintet concert! The iconic quintet by György Ligeti and sextet for winds and piano by Francis Poulenc (with Maureen Volk, piano) will be joined by Paquito D’Rivera’s lively “Aires Tropicales” and Valerie Coleman’s “Umoja” - an “anthem of unity.”


Time and Motion
Duo Del’Ato

Human Existence is defined by how we perceive time. In this program, MUN single reeds instructor Tiago Delgado (clarinet) and collaborative pianist Daniel Inamorato S. Louro explore works expressing different ideas of time and worldly motion.
