PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOW AN HONORARY RESEARCH PROFESSSOR BUT AM RETIRED FROM FULL-TIME TEACHING AND SO REGRETTABLY WILL NOT BE TAKING ON ANY NEW GRADUATE STUDENTS.

My area of interest is organic chemistry and in particular:

1. The synthesis and supramolecular properties of calixarenes and their naphthalene and azulene analogues.

2. The study and application of calixarenes and other sensing molecules as sensing layers for micro chemosensors in collaboration with Prof. Abdullah Alodhayb and Dr. Shofiur Rahman at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

3. The synthesis and biological properties of new small molecules with potential pharmaceutical activity, in collaborations with Dr. Botros Beshay, College of Pharmacy, Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Alexandria, Egypt; and Dr. T.R. Swaroop and Prof. Prof. M. P. Sadashiva, University of Mysore, Mysuru, Karnataka, India.

4. Studies on small-ring cyclophanes in collaborations with Professor Takehiko Yamato, Saga University, Saga, Japan; Dr. Monarul Islam, Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh; and Prof. Abdullah Alodhayb and Dr. Shofiur Rahman at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
