Scholarly teaching
Goal: Develop a cohort based faculty development program in research on student learning.
Supports Strategic Priority 3:
Promote and support deep and engaged learning for all through high-impact practices, educational technologies, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a systematic approach to evaluating one’s own teaching practices in higher education to understand how those practices impact student development.
Our new Teaching Enhancement through Scholarly Inquiry (TESI) program supports new and experienced educational practitioners through a collaborative, personally relevant, and active cohort-based learning program. At the centre of TESI is a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) project to be completed by participants on a proposed inquiry idea of their choice.
Offered for the first time in Fall 2022, the semester-long program takes 12 project proposals and supports participant learning as they plan, implement and disseminate their projects. Through this program, we will recognize and promote teaching innovation through educator-led, data-driven investigations into teaching and learning.
