Research Statement
My proposed research concerns an analysis of children and childhood during the seventeenth century colonial occupation of Ferryland. A relatively new sub-field of archaeology, such archaeologies of children shed light on underrepresented narratives and ways of life. Examining children’s lives at Ferryland, especially the transitional period between child and adult roles, should provide ample information on unexplored avenues of socialisation and development.
