Conservation Laboratory and Collections Room
The role of the Conservation Laboratory is to assist with the long-term preservation of archaeological material through the conservation of collections recovered by Faculty and graduate students. The Collections Rooms house assemblages from many historic and prehistoric archaeological sites in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Historical Archaeology Laboratory
The Historical Archaeology Laboratory provides a large, state-of-the-art layout space for faculty and graduate student researchers working on historic period human impact on the landscape of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Labrador Archaeology & Digital Laboratories
The Labrador Archaeology Laboratory is equipped to enable researchers and students working in Labrador to undertake artifact cleaning and analysis. The Digital Resource Room provides hardware and software for processing, analysis and printing of associated image, database and GIS data.
Memorial Applied Archaeological Sciences Laboratory (MAAS)
The Memorial Applied Archaeological Sciences Laboratory lab is designed to facilitate a wide-range of analytical methods in archaeology, including stable and radiogenic isotope analysis (C/N/O/Pb/Sr/S), thin-section preparation, sclerochronology and high-resolution digital light microscopy.
Environmental Archaeology Laboratory
The Palaeoecology, Environmental Archaeology and Timescales (PEAT) Laboratory is equipped with a variety of resources for teaching and research involving the analysis of insect and plant remains associated with archaeological sites.
North Atlantic Archaeology Journal
The North Atlantic Archaeology Journal publishes archaeological research articles and preliminary reports focusing on, or related to, the archaeology and historical archaeology of the North Atlantic region.
Osteological Collection Room
The osteological collection room is a limited access space for the storage of human skeletal remains. The study collections include human remains recovered from a 16th century Basque cemetery at Red Bay, and 18th and 19th century Euro-Canadian skeletal materials.
Great Hall Exhibition Space
The Great Hall Exhibition Space is located on the main floor of Queen's College. A row of permanent display cases are installed along the main hallway of the ground floor in which faculty and graduate students exhibit their research.
