Lynsey Soper-Thistle, MSW, RSW, is a Field Education Coordinator with the School of Social Work. She is mainly responsible for coordinating and developing field practicums for undergraduate students.

She is a graduate of Memorial University, completing her bachelor of social work in 2010, bachelor of arts in German and Psychology in 2012 and master of social work in 2017. Lynsey's master's research explored the effectiveness of admission criteria in predicting academic performance in a bachelor of social work program.

Lynsey has spent the last 10 years working on the ancestral homelands of the Mi'kmaq and Beothuk (Corner Brook and St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador). Lynsey's career started in an acute setting with Western Health. She then worked with Vision Loss Rehabilitation Newfoundland and Labrador (a CNIB Organization) engaging in counselling services with individuals who experienced vision loss, as well as having the role as a volunteer coordinator. Lynsey then held the role of the Manager of Vision Loss Rehabilitation Services for Newfoundland and Labrador, prior to working at the School of Social Work.

Lynsey has a strong passion for field education and says the best part of her role is having the opportunity to learn from students and their experiences. In addition to field education, Lynsey's professional experience and passions include accessibility, engaging with seniors and individuals with (dis)abilities, rehabilitation, volunteerism, leadership, supervision and team building.
