2017/18 concert series ready to launch

We're celebrating the opening of our 2017/18 music@memorial concert series with a little pre-concert launch! Join MUN School of Music dean, Dr. Ian Sutherland, as he highlights some special guest performers, and shares a few little surprises.

"We bring world-class music to the stage showcasing the incredible musicians of the School of Music and some of Canada's best-known, best-loved and innovative performers," said Dr. Sutherland.

"It's all about live music-making," he said. "It's exciting, thrilling, heart-warming and absolutely top quality, and there's nothing like experiencing live music in D.F. Cook Hall, one of Canada's best concert venues."

During Friday's launch you'll have time to enjoy some light refreshments and mingle with friends before taking your seat for the Canada 150! concert, where faculty and friends of the school will present a captivating and varied program of music relating to the history of Canada.

This year's concert offerings include guest performers such as acclaimed pianist Jon Kimura Parker, MUN alumus and pianist Patrick Cashin, and National Arts Centre Orchestra clarinetist Dr. Sean Rice, a MUN alumnus who has joined the school as a faculty member for 2017/18.

With 30 concerts, there's simply something for everyone. Here's a link to the brochure, so you'll have time to mark your calendars: https://www.mun.ca/music/musicatmemorial/index.php
