Raising our profile: Alumni input 'invaluable' for global academic surveys
Memorial is encouraging its nearly 100,000 alumni to participate in international surveys ranking post-secondary institutions worldwide.
Dr. Neil Bose, vice-president (research), is inviting graduates to register for an invitation to take part in the 2020 QS Global Academic Survey, which is now available online.
The survey is one of the key aspects of the QS World University Rankings, which is considered one of the world’s most viewed global evaluations of university research strength.
“Your connections with Memorial do not end at graduation,” said Dr. Bose. “We know the immense pride you feel for our university and province. Each of our graduates play an invaluable role helping promote Memorial on the world stage.”
By registering for the survey, alumni will receive an email from QS, along with a notification to expect the main survey in the first quarter of 2020.
To participate in the QS survey, alumni should use a valid university email address where possible. If they still use their Memorial email address, they can participate in the survey but cannot vote for Memorial.
Dr. Bose says there’s a considerable number of Memorial alumni who hold email addresses from other academic institutions around the world.
He is hoping those graduates participate to promote Memorial.
“There is strength in numbers,” he noted. “We want our alumni to show off their Memorial pride, participate in surveys such as the QS rankings and tell the positive stories about our university.”
