Ranking reputation: Alumni encouraged to show off their Memorial pride
Memorial is calling on alumni around the world to help raise the university’s international profile.
Dr. Neil Bose, vice-president (research), is encouraging graduates to sign up to participate in the 2018 QS Global Academic Survey, which is now available online.
The survey is one of the key aspects of the QS World University Rankings which is considered one of the world’s most viewed global evaluations of university research strength. Memorial is included, but has been dropping in the rankings over the last few years. By registering, alumni will receive an email from QS indicating they’ll receive the survey in the first quarter of 2018.
“Memorial alumni are among our university’s greatest ambassadors,” said Dr. Bose who began in his role in November 2017.
“As Memorial grows into an increasingly research-focused institution, we need the help of our graduates to further promote their alma mater.”
To participate in the QS survey, alumni need a valid university email address. If they still use their Memorial email address they can participate in the survey but cannot vote for Memorial.
Dr. Bose is hoping alumni who hold email addresses from other academic institutions will participate in a big way.
“We know there is a significant number of alumni who have furthered their education and pursued careers at a number of universities around the world where they have valid email addresses from those institutions,” said Dr. Bose.
“We are hoping these alumni, in particular, will think about Memorial when they complete the QS survey. The more people who can help tell the Memorial story the better.”
