SciVal training for research administrators

Memorial is collaborating with Elsevier to host a free virtual training session for research administrators.

Dr. Kyle Demes, consultant, research intelligence, is hosting a workshop custom designed for grant facilitators and research officers; associate deans of research; and other research administrators.

The session – SciVal in Research Facilitation -- takes place on Monday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Newfoundland Time.

SciVal is an online tool offering quick, easy access to the research performance of over 20,000 research institutions from 230 nations around the world.

Further details

As the research funding landscape becomes more competitive in Canada, applicants are expected to provide robust, empirical evidence of their fit to each criterion. Likewise, applicants who are able to provide objective metrics supporting their fit to criteria have a competitive advantage in funding competitions.

In this training tutorial, Dr. Demes will cover use cases of SciVal that are specifically tailored to research facilitation and development, including

(1) highlighting topics of prominence at your institution,

(2) insights for building competitive teams,

(3) using metrics as evidence of excellence and impact and

(4) using reporting to facilitate intelligence gathering for regular programs.

How to join

Those wishing to attend the session can email the Strategic Institutional Research Initiatives (SIRI) office at siri@mun.ca for the Webex link.
