NSERC information visits July 5-6

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) is hosting two sessions at Memorial on July 5 and 6.

How to Prepare a Successful Discovery Grant Application

Date: Thursday, July 5
Time: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Location: Room EN-2006, S. J. Carew (Engineering) Building, St. John's Campus
Presenter: Stacey Lee-Jenkins, NSERC program officer

This session will include an overview of the Discovery program and updates on changes to the application requirements and process. In addition, Memorial’s own NSERC Discovery evaluations group members will attend to help answer any questions Memorial faculty and staff might have regarding the application and the adjudication process.

NSERC Engagement Visit

Date: Friday, July 6
Time: 10 a.m. to 12 noon
Location: Room C-2004, Chemistry-Physics Building, St. John's Campus
Presenter: Enikö Megyeri-Lawless, director, Research Grants, Engineering and Life Sciences

The visit is scheduled for two hours and features presentations by NSERC staff, interspersed with opportunities for questions and comments from attendees.

Details: NSERC engagements visits have been a successful tool for the agency and the community to share information and build linkages. They allow researchers, students and other stakeholders to connect with NSERC to learn more about recent developments and to get the latest program and policy updates.

These visits also offer a platform for the community to ask questions, to seek direct information from some of NSERC’s grants, scholarships and partnerships experts, and to provide input on its programs, policies and initiatives.

Some of the topics planned for discussion this year include:

  • Highlights from Federal Budget 2018
  • Updates on NSERC’s programs and support for People, Discovery and Innovation
  • Policy updates including NSERC’s Framework on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Coffee and tea will be available.

All interested faculty, students and staff are invited to attend.
