Background

 The Strategic Research Intensity Plan was initiated by Dr. Richard Marceau, Vice-President (Research) on  December 5, 2013, at the request of the Board of Regents and the President of Memorial University. 

The plan underwent several phases of consultation before finalization and approval.

The creation of the plan included meetings with Memorial University's senior academic and administrative heads, student representatives and the university's formal advisory board and decision-making bodies in the area of research. 

Consultations included all faculties and schools on the St. John's campus, and the Grenfell and Marine Institute campuses, as well as the Labrador Institute.

Final consultations of the Draft Strategic Research Intensity Plan 2014-2020 took place March 3 - April 14, 2014.

The Strategic Research Intensity Plan 2014-2020 was approved by the Board of Regents on May 8, 2014.
