Annual Spring Clean-Up of the Garden

Usually in April each year (IF snow has melted and grounds are not too soft!)

Help clean up the Garden’s grounds, beds, and pathways. Please bring rakes, pruners, and gloves if you have them. Meet task coordinators in the Field Centre’s main parking lot, 306 Mt. Scio Rd., but park your car in one of the lots across the street from, and directly opposite, the Garden’s main gates.

FOG Mt. Scio Roadside Clean-Up

Usually in June each year.

Clean-up of the roadside and ditches from the Garden’s gates to Thorburn Road in support of Clean St. John’s annual anti-litter initiative. Meet the event coordinator at the Garden’s main gate. Please bring gloves. Pick-up sticks, garbage bags, and reflective safety vests will be provided.

FOG Plant Sale Tables at Field Centre

Mid-May to Early October

A selection of plants propagated by FOG's Horticultural Group volunteers are offered on the outdoor sales tables located just to the left of the ramp that leads to the Garden’s Field Centre.  This fundraising effort extends FOG's Annual Spring and Fall Plant Sales and usually includes perennials, ferns, shrubs, trees, and unusual conifers.  Plants are grouped by use or category and labeled with basic information, and selections are updated several times a week.  Sign in to the Garden's free Wi-Fi to access additional growing information and images of plants offered.  Purchases can be made during the Garden’s regular business hours. The Garden accepts payments on FOG's behalf at the Field Centre Reception Desk.

Spring and Fall Plant Sale

Spring Plant Sale, Saturday, June 10, 9:00am-12:00noon

Normally held in June and September each year, on a Saturday morning..

The Friends of the Memorial University Botanical Garden (FOG) offer a fantastic selection of proven perennials, heaths, heathers, and shrubs in their sales. Experienced gardeners are on hand to answer questions and help identify plants suitable for your garden. Quantities are limited for some plant varieties so come early for best selection!

This outdoor event goes ahead rain or shine. Look for volunteer greeters wearing orange safety vests, as well as directional and parking signs. This is a cashless sale. To limit shared touch surfaces, Visa, MasterCard, and debit cards with tap enabled will be the only forms of payment accepted.
