Garden Etiquette

garden scene by Alpine house

To ensure that all of our visitors have an enjoyable and safe visit, we ask that a few rules be followed:

Please Stay on the Trails

We ask that visitors please stay on the trails - this applies for both the gardens and the nature trails. This is both for the safety of you, our visitors, and the preservation of the gardens and natural areas.

No Collecting Please

No collecting is permitted, including plant cuttings, flowers, berries, and insects. This is to ensure the longevity of our gardens and the complex ecological community which supports them. Trash bins are only located in the Field Centre. We ask that you please hold on to any refuse until you enter the building.

No Smoking Policy

Memorial University is a smoke-free campus and as such, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the premises. This includes the gardens, nature trails, Field Centre, and parking lots.

Pet Policy

Only registered service animals are permitted at the Botanical Garden. For their health, please do not leave pets in your vehicle. Conveniently, there are several trails in the area where you can exercise your pet. Please see the Grand Concourse website or the Pippy Park website for more information.
