Triad of Awards for Faculty of Education

The President’s Awards for 2018, were awarded last night and three faculty from Education received awards. Dr. Ursula Kelly, Dr. Elizabeth Yeoman and Dr. Heather McLeod were honoured for outstanding work as educators and in research. The president’s awards recognize excellence in public engagement, teaching, research, service to Memorial and community service. The awards were formally presented at a special ceremony at the Signal Hill campus on Dec. 12.

Dr. Ursula Kelly, professor, has been awarded the 2018 University Research Professorship. It is the University’s most prestigious award given for research and / or creative activity. The award honours a faculty member at the rank of Professor who has demonstrated a consistently high level of scholarship and whose research is of a truly international stature.

Dr. Elizabeth Yeoman, professor, is this year’s recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Graduate & Post-graduate Supervision. Advising students to help them succeed is a passion for Dr. Yeoman, who believes success comes from doing what you love.

Dr. Heather McLeod, associate professor, is the recipient of the President’s Award for Outstanding Teaching (Faculty) for 2018. The award recognizes remarkable efforts in the classroom by faculty members with 5-10 years of service to the university. A proponent of experiential teaching, Dr. McLeod is keen on helping her students connect practice to theory.

We will profile the recipients over the next couple of days providing a more in-depth look at their work.

Congratulations to all the award winners!
