Sharron Callahan earns Alumni Tribute Award!

Congratulations to our alumna, Sharron Callahan, on earning a 2018 Alumni Tribute Award!

Outstanding Community Service Award

Ms. Callahan has been giving back to community and advocating for youth and seniors for decades and has been involved with organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Family Life Bureau, and Child and Youth Care Association of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Working with the Girl Guides of Canada for many years, she eventually became Canada’s 19th chief commissioner, the only person from Newfoundland and Labrador to hold this position. She used this platform to take a stand on the issue of violence against young women.

Ms. Callahan has worked with many seniors' groups over the years, including N.L. Public Sector Pensioners Association, and the Seniors & Pensioners Coalition and she is the president of the Canadian Association of Retired Persons.

The 37th annual Alumni Tribute Awards ceremony will take place Thursday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. at Memorial’s Signal Hill Campus in St. John’s.
