Dr. Shelly Birnie-Lefcovitch honored with CASW Distinguished Service Award

Sincere congratulations to Dr. Shelly Birnie-Lefcovitch, the 2021 Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) Distinguished Service Award Winner for Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dr. Birnie-Lefcovitch was recognized and celebrated for his contributions to the social work profession during Social Work Month.

The CASW National Social Work Month Distinguished Service Award is given yearly by the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) on the occasion of National Social Work Month, to an individual or group of individuals selected from their membership by each CASW Partner Organization. 

Dr. Shelly Birnie-Lefcovitch recently retired from his position as associate professor with the School of Social Work, after dedicated service to our school and significant contributions to the social work profession over two decades. He has been awarded Honorary Research Professor status with the school for the next three years.
