With the increasing numbers of seniors testing HIV-positive in Canada and the increasing number of Persons Living with HIV (PHA’s) entering their senior years, it is important that our community becomes informed of the new challenges in HIV education, treatment and support, and the important role of research in ensuring that our programs are built on evidence-based knowledge.

The HIV and Aging Workshop addresses the growing population of people living with HIV who are getting older.  We present an overview of current demographics and new infection trends, tackle sexual health messaging to older Canadians, and explore the impact of stigma on this population. We also introduce in-depth information about the difference between aging and aging with HIV as well as discussing issues related to inflammation, co-morbidities, drug interactions, and strategies to assist with gentle aging.

We look forward to meeting with you, sharing our information and engaging in a discussion that will help inform our future program direction.
