CHRSP Puts its Best Face Forward

As Dr. Bornstein explains it, researchers in the Contextualized Health Research Synthesis Program collaborate witht he province;s healthcare system to determine what reseach topics require a pending healthcare decision.

How do you get research evidence on the table when health policy decisions are made?

CHRSP does it by asking health system leaders, community stakeholders, researchers, and experts from across Canada to work together on research teams towards a common goal: supporting evidence-based healthcare policy in Newfoundland & Labrador.

CHRSP invites health system partners from across the province to submit a list of topics for which evidence is needed to inform pending decisions. Once a slate of topics is agreed upon, CHRSP builds research teams that include knowledge users and researchers to synthesize the best available research evidence.  Through province-wide consultation, CHRSP then places the evidence in context for use here in Newfoundland and Labrador, recognizing that what might work in New York City may not necessarily work in Wabush.
Through integrated knowledge translation, CHRSP promotes a healthy exchange through which researchers gain a stronger understanding of health system realities and decision makers gain valuable experience working in applied health research.

CHRSP’s innovative approach promotes the health and well-being of the province’s population by attuning its research results to the unique characteristics of Newfoundland & Labrador, effectively putting researchj in its place.
