Symmetrization Principles for Hardy-Rellich Inequalities

Abstract: Inequalities involving integrals of a function and its derivatives appear frequently in various branches of mathematics, e.g. in the theory of differential equations, in the theory of approximation, etc. In this talk, we introduce one of these well-known functional inequalities, namely the Hardy-Rellich type inequality. Then we establish the symmetrization principles for Hardy-Rellich inequalities on the class of smooth functions with compact support. We also prove analogous results for certain subspaces of Sobolev spaces, including the class of antisymmetric functions.
