Bug Photography Workshop
Join Nature NL for this bug photography workshop, as part of our insect monitoring program.
Whether you have a DSLR or a smartphone, learn how to take close-up photographs of insects, spiders, and other critters in this workshop led by entomologist and photographer Sean McCann. Content will include tips on finding and photographing small subjects in nature, what to focus on if you’re hoping to identify species from photographs using iNaturalist, lighting, and more! Bring whatever photography equipment you already have (a smartphone is fine). There will be opportunities to try out equipment (like clip-on macro lenses and flash diffusers) that can help you up your bug-photography game.
This workshop will be in-person at the Memorial University Botanical Gardens. The event is free of charge. Registration is required.
Please email naturenl@naturenl.ca with the number of people who are interested and whether you plan to bring a camera (and if so, what kind) or smartphone, before the end of the day on Friday, July 7.
This event is generously supported by Memorial University’s Office of Public Engagement in collaboration with Dr. Tom Chapman and the Botanical Garden.
Location: Botanical Garden
Date and Time: Saturday, Jul. 8 at 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (NDT)
