Seedy Saturday
Location: MUN Botanical Garden 306 Mount Scio Rd.
Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 9:00 AM - Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 4:00 PM
Celebrate the Spring Equinox with the Food Producers' Forum and the MUN Botanical Garden at Seedy Saturday!
Seedy Saturdays take place all over the country and have been supported by Seeds of Diversity for more than 30 years. The events are independent and locally organized, with a focus on promoting the continued use of heritage and open-pollinated seeds, education around seed saving and environmentally responsible growing, with an opportunity to participate in a seed exchange. Our event will include information booths from a variety of groups and individuals active in the home gardening, homesteading, and food security communities, plus workshops, opportunities to share, trade, and discover seeds, and even a Kids’ Place with activities and learning for our youngest gardeners. Workshop topics include seed starting, seed saving, composting, and container gardening. Don’t miss the special “Ask a Gardener” session!
No pre-registration necessary. Please come along with your seeds and seedlings to share/trade, your curiosity, and your love of growing. Both edible and ornamental plants are welcomed.

Sound Symposium: Trail Reports
Location: MUN Botanical Garden
Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM - Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 3:00 PM
The Sound Symposium presents "Trail Reports," a soundwalk that incorporates poetry by Alice Burdick, movement by Andrea Tucker, percussion by Erin Donovan, Bill Brennan, Rob Power, and Gina Ryan, and guitar and voice by Reid Robins.
Trail Reports at the MUN Botanical Garden will include collaborative poetry, music, and dance at fixed stations in the Garden. The words, sounds, and movement will combine with the ambient sounds and sensations of the gardens to provide an experience that we hope the audience will freely interact with and respond to, in effect becoming participants themselves if desired. Along the routes to the stations, Alice will act in the role of a quasi tour guide, composing poetry in immediate and impromptu response to the locale surrounding the perambulating audience.
This is a separately ticketed event by the Sound Symposium. For tickets, please visit the link below.

Halloween Howl
Location: MUN Botanical Garden
Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM - Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 3:00 PM
What’s the scariest thing about Halloween? The plants!!! Walk amongst the poisonous plants at the BOO-tanical Garden for lots of family fun and learn why bats, owls, crows, spiders, and even the plants aren’t all that scary once you get to know them. This program is ideal for children ages 1-10, and is a non-scary program (no jump scares, no "gore"; but do expect to see bats, spiders, and skeletons!) Our goal is to have fun while learning all about the nature-based symbols that are used during Halloween. Lots of hands-on fun for everyone!
