General Admission Requirements
Credential
High School Graduation Certificate (Bang Tot Nghiep Trung Hoc Pho Thong)
Required Subject Areas
- English
- Mathematics*
- Laboratory Science* (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
- Social Studies or Modern/Classical Language
- Elective
*Students who are missing an eligible course in subject groups 2, 3 or 4, who apply for admission to a program that does not require completion of these courses, will be considered for general admission. In this case, an eligible course in subject groups 1, 2, 3 or 4 may be used to substitute the missing course. Students who are missing eligible courses in two subject areas should contact admissions@mun.ca.
General Admission Criteria
Grade requirement
- Minimum grade of 6 in the required subject areas.
English language proficiency
- Proof of English language proficiency is required through a standardized test. IELTS is the recommended test for the Canadian visa/study permit application.
Competitive program entry (if applicable)
- Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

If you are currently in high school
When you apply (early decision)
- Current translated interim transcript and original language interim transcript. Documents can be official or unofficial.
- Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
- Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
When you complete your examinations (final decision)
- Certified translation of your official, final High School Graduation Certificate and a certified copy of the original document in its original language sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.
If you have completed high school and not attended a post-secondary institution
- Certified translation of your official, final High School Graduation Certificate and a certified copy of the original document in its original language sent by post or courier to the Office of the Registrar.
- Official English proficiency test result sent directly from the testing authority.
- Supplementary information required for competitive-entry programs may be required with your application.
If you have attended a post-secondary institution
- Refer to the university or college applicant requirements.
Submitting Your Documents
Official documents will only be considered official when received by post or courier directly from the issuing authority in a sealed envelope.
