Most Bachelor of Music and Joint Degree in Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Business Administration students will follow these course plans during their first two semesters of study:
Undergraduate students in their second, third, and fourth years and all graduate students should reference the Program Planning Guides when planning their degrees.
Principal Applied Study
All music students receive eight semesters of individual instruction in their principal applied area. Instruction is available on all major orchestral and band instruments, including winds, brass, strings, percussion as well as voice, piano, organ, and classical guitar.
Students will receive course syllabi from each of their instructors, including instructors in their principal applied study. Students may reference the generic applied syllabi until they receive the studio-specific syllabus from their applied insturctor.
Piano Proficiency Test
All undergraduate music students are required to pass the Piano Proficiency Test prior to registering for certain second-level core music courses (Music 2107, 2117, and 2401). Students whose principal applied study is piano or organ are exempt from playing the Piano Proficiency Test.
