SUBJECT: Marine Institute to officially open Underwater Exploration Lab

The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University will officially open its Underwater Exploration Lab on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 12 p.m.
It will take place in the Conference Centre of the Marine Institute’s Ridge Road campus.
Participating will be Seamus O’Regan, minister, Natural Resources, Government of Canada; Tom Osborne, minister, Education, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador; Andrew Parsons, minister, Industry, Energy and Technology, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador; and Dr. Vianne Timmons, president and vice-chancellor, Memorial University.
Editors, please note: Under Memorial University’s COVID-19 building access procedures, there will be limited space available for media wishing to attend the lab opening and demonstration.

Entrance to the Marine Institute is only available via the main lobby doors, where health and safety rules must be followed – including sign-in and sign-out procedures, answering self-assessment COVID-19 questions, using hand sanitizer and wearing a face mask at all times while inside the building.
Please arrive early to allow time for this process.
