The inaugural Ocean Hero of the Year Award will also be presented during Saturday’s event.
Virtual activities will take place June 6-8 via the World Oceans Day-N.L. Facebook page or on Instagram, including a beachcombing guide, songs, recitations and spectacular coastal drone footage.
The event is presented by the Newfoundland and Labrador World Oceans Day Committee, which includes volunteers from Fisheries and Oceans Canada; the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture; and the Marine Institute of Memorial University.
